Profil

Martin Schmitt began his professional career with an apprenticeship as a carpenter, which gave him technical skills and a deep understanding of materials and construction. During his studies in Germany, England and the USA, he intensively explored the artistic and theoretical aspects of architecture. His time in New York, where he became part of an innovative academic environment at the Pratt Institute, was particularly formative. After teaching assignments in the USA, his academic career took him to Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University of Berlin, eventually leading to a visiting professorship at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Since MARTIN SCHMITT ARCHITEKTUR was founded in 2003, the firm has been working on projects in the fields of architecture, interior design and building renovation, with a focus on timber construction. These areas overlap, constantly intertwine and inspire each other. We design architecture with technical expertise and artistic ambition, taking ecological requirements into account.
